Performance & Culture Intelligence
Experience informs the way you lead, but even "tried and true" approaches can fail when applied to an unknown environment.
Getting to the root of a problem is never as easy as we would want it to be. The interconnectedness of every system, process, person, understanding, influence, and environmental driver creates a mesh of relationships and networks. These are things we have to take together in a holistic way when assessing strategic performance. Recognizing the complex nature of organizations - and that no two are alike - we have to overcome the tendency to make assumptions about what we think the core problems are.

Performance Intelligence
The 360 Model, anchored by the purpose/growth/evolution foundation of Essential Strategy, was designed to support the identification of key performance drivers from the inside out. It leverages deep expertise in enterprise risk, resilience planning, and strategy design to give you a holistic view of what is - and is not - driving positive strategic performance.
You don't need to be told what you already know, and you don't need answers for problems you don't have. The smart design of QI 360 identifies those areas that are critical for performance at the stage of growth you're in. You get to see the mesh of interconnected people, systems and drivers that need immediate attention, as well as the path for moving forward.
Information
is a powerful yet fickle friend

Having the right information at the right time is how you make decisions with confidence.

Erin’s ability to get at the root of a problem and then support a team in crafting the solution is exceptional. We worked with Erin to gap assess an issue we had affecting client capture in one of our groups. From the start, we thought we knew what the problem was and that Erin would simply confirm our suspicions. We were enlightened when her analysis revealed that what we thought was an issue wasn’t one at all – we actually had a completely different problem. She then worked with our team to create an action plan to get the group back to an optimum level of performance. The results have been extremely successful – we couldn’t be happier!

Performance Intelligence 360 Model
The 360 Model takes the best of enterprise risk and reframes it through a strategic imperative lens, crosswalking these two critical functions. Designed in three phases each one builds on the next. This inside out approach reveals disconnects between strategic imperatives and operational realities that are critical when developing strategy. The 360 can be added to any strategic planning project, or depending on the the maturity of the strategy already in place, may be engaged as a stand-alone project.
Phase I: Operational Core
This work is done as part of a pre-workshop Discovery Process. The analysis reveals the inner functioning of the organization itself, as well as how well the organization understands its market, industry, and socio-political environment. Using more than 70 data points to understand performance drivers across four quadrants that include the Business Model, Human Asset, Programs & Systems and Learning Praxis, we are looking for the gap between formalized expectation and operational reality.
Phase II: Business Discipline
Phase II is part of Pathfinding & Performance Workshop. Using the outputs of Phase I, we focus on the level of agility in the business flow, and how well the Core supports key disciplines of strategy, performance, and leadership.

Phase III: Quantum Intelligence
As part of the post workshop quarterly checkins, we measure ongoing progress against six key attributes necessary for sustainability. Designed to work with Q.I. Strategy, this scorecard is how we bridge from operational metrics to visionary ones.

-
Aspiration & Alignment (Purpose)
-
Intelligence & Decisiveness (Growth)
-
Navigation & Adaptation (Evolution)
The most common mistake I see leaders make is assuming they know what's going on because they've seen it before somewhere else.
It doesn't work that way.

Culture Intelligence
Performance Intelligence is just half the puzzle - Culture is the other. People are fond of saying that "culture eats strategy for lunch". I am here to tell you that culture IS strategy, and it is just as important to understand as performance metrics and industry shifts.

Thanks to the latest research and development by my friends at PrinciplesUs, there is now a new culture assessment tool that provides insight like never before. These assessments can be easily applied to the entire organization or broken down by teams. The tools tie into with the PrinciplesUs Dashboard tools used in coaching, which makes it a seamless integration.

The PrinciplesUs tools are the only ones I use in my work because they are both rigorously tested and so easy to interpret. Embedding them into the operational rhythms for ongoing growth and development is easy and affordable.

Adding the PrinciplesUs 5C Culture Assessment is an easy and suprisingly affordable way to build culture awareness into your operational psyche. When coupled with the Q.I. Strategy Performance Intelligence 360 Model, you and your team gain unparalleled visibility into the organization, helping you define and build strategy that moves you forward.
